Campus Vote Project Democracy Fellows


Caroline Kennen

Ohio State University

Caroline is a senior at the Ohio State University, and she is studying political science and communication. She is passionate about registering students to vote and providing nonpartisan, accurate, and concise information. From registration to absentee ballots to checking polling locations and more, Caroline works with OSU Votes and Ohio State’s Office of Student Life to encourage students to participate in the country’s voting process. She is involved in many other groups at Ohio State, including volunteering at a local library as a tutor for elementary school students and being a senior editor at an undergraduate academic journal.

Vanessa Feldman

Ohio State University

Vanessa is a third year from Austin, Texas and attends The Ohio State University, majoring in public affairs and minoring in political decision making. She is involved in Buckeye Leadership Fellows, which is Ohio State’s signature leadership development experience, as well as being an ambassador for OSU Votes, a nonpartisan student-led movement that registers, educates, and encourages students to vote and become civically engaged. Having always been interested in advocating for under-represented groups, Vanessa is excited to help get out the Millennial vote this election and is thrilled to work alongside CVP to make sure students at college campuses are able to voice their opinions this November.

Jayla Burton

University of Cincinnati

Jayla is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Cincinnati to attend the University of Cincinnati. She is now a third year health science pre-physical therapy major with a certificate in International Social Justice and Human Rights. She is very involved on campus and is the Director of Advocacy for GlobeMed, a student organization that aims to educate and train student to be advocates for health equity and she is the Secretary of Shades of You, an organization to empower minority women through mentorship, community service, and sisterhood. When she is not in a meeting or in the library you can find her traveling or dancing with her competitive dance team.

Mary Stuard

Ohio University

Mary is a senior attending Ohio University. She is double majoring in history pre-law and political science. She was born and raised in Warren, Ohio. Upon graduation next spring, Mary hopes to attend law school where she will then go onto becoming a personal injury lawyer. She has been apart of the Ohio University student body since 2013 and has been a part of several organizations, including Pi Beta Phi fraternity for women and Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. At a young age Mary took interest in politics and the right to vote and has continued to hold the same ideals since leaving home and attending college. She is very excited to be apart of the Democracy Fellows team and cannot wait to spread the word on how important it is to register to vote and participate in the upcoming presidential election.

Samantha Read

Ohio University

Samantha is a senior at Ohio University. She plans to graduate in the spring with a Bachelor’s degree in political science and communication. Samantha recently interned for a U.S. Senator. She also writes for an online news publication called The New Political where she focuses on state issues. She is eager to work for Campus Vote Project this election season to encourage people to vote and deliver information to voters. She enjoys exploring and spending time outside. After she graduates she hopes to find a government job and travel the country.

Warda Aden

Ohio University

Warda is third year student at Ohio University and is double majoring in political science and global studies with a focus on war and peace. She is involved in groups like The Global Studies Union, CIS alumni ambassador program, Global Studies student ambassador program. She works two jobs: one on campus in the Psychology Department and one off campus at Pita Pit. She is passionate about being involved in Campus Voter Project because she believes in everyone’s right to vote and be a part of our democratic election process.

Abygia Tibebe

University of Cincinnati

Abygia is a native to Columbus, and attends the University of Cincinnati. She is a second year neurobiology major and getting a certificate in global health on a pre-med track. She is external VP of the UC African Student Organization which unites the African students on campus and also educates others about the diversity of Africa. She is also involved in WILL, which is Women and Leadership and Learning which empowers women of all backgrounds in their love for social justice in all forms. When she is not at the library studying or at a organization meeting, she loves traveling, meeting new people, eating, reading, and running.
